The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)

New SIT Campus

SIT was established by the Singaporean Ministry of Education in 2009 to provide upgrading opportunities primarily for Singaporean polytechnic graduates. SIT focuses on partnering reputable overseas universities to offer quality, industry-focused degree programmes targeted at growth sectors of the economy.

The SIT works closely with its overseas university partners and the local polytechnics at the second- and third-year levels, to meet these graduates’ preference for applied learning and to maintain the same standard as in the overseas universities’ home countries.

Newcastle University and SIT are delighted to offer several degree programmes. These have been specially designed to build on the strengths of Singaporean polytechnic education by providing high-quality, internationally recognised, world-class university education to polytechnic graduates. The courses offered by Newcastle University are also described on the Singapore Institute of Technology website.

SIT recently announced the construction of a new teaching facility for Newcastle students on their Ngee-Ann Polytechnic campus. Due for completion in 2014, it will provide an impressive range of teaching and social facilities including:

  • large lecture halls
  • design studios
  • social spaces
  • a student lounge for academic and social activities
