Dr Kenneth McKeegan

Background

I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Microbiology from the University of Glasgow in 1997. I continued my studies at the University of Manchester where I completed my PhD, also in Microbiology, in 2001. Between 2001 and 2005 I worked in a number of post-doctoral research posts and since 2005 I have worked for Newcastle University in the Faculty of Medical Sciences both as a researcher and teacher.

I have been the Dean of Academic Affairs at NUMed since February 2014. My main roles are responsibility for managing the delivery of the first two years of the MBBS programme. I ensure that the outcomes and standards of these first two years are the same if not better than those delivered in Newcastle UK. I also have an overall responsibility of for quality assurance, assessment, student progress and support for the whole MBBS programme.
