There are further opportunities to study Languages with a wide range of subjects through the Combined Honours programme. The teaching and autonomous learning of languages in the School is supported strongly by the excellent facilities of the Language Resource Centre, located also in the Old Library Building.
The School of Modern Languages at Newcastle is very active in outreach work. It is the Lead Institution in the North East Routes into Languages Consortium and hosts, together with the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences, the North East Links into Languages Regional Centre.

There are excellent links with other institutions, especially the Confucius Institute and the Instituto Camões, the Centre for the Study of Portuguese. We are a member of the Santander Universities network. The School of Modern Languages offers funding opportunities for those pursuing study or research in the countries of the Iberian Peninsula and many countries of Latin America.
