You are warmly invited to join us and present a paper at the "Talking to the World" conference to exchange ideas that will shape our profession and improve the way we educate the next generation of interpreters.

There are two sub-themes of the conference. Papers on any of the following themes are welcome:
(a) Landscape of interpreting as a profession
Perspectives from the service users and providers – professional practice, skills and ethics in simultaneous, consecutive and public service interpreting; dealing with language, people and real-life contexts, politics and power-structures, new technologies, regional and global challenges.
(b) Innovations in education and training for the next generation of interpreters
The Teaching and Learning of interpreting at all stages of training, including curriculum development, course design, and e-Learning; the assessment of interpreting at all stages of training, including continuous assessment and final examinations within the educational institutions, and assessment as a means of quality assurance in the professional world; and
Any other research topics that are related to interpreting as an academic discipline and as a profession in all sectors.
We welcome proposals for conference papers and poster presentations (including PhD work in progress).
Please send your proposal to our conference secretary Ms. Lucy Brickwood (lucy.brickwood@ncl.ac.uk) by 28 February 2013, and register online to reserve your place for the conference as early as possible. Accepted proposals will be notified by 31 March 2013.
