The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014 has ranked Languages at Newcastle amongst the best in the country with  Iberian in fifth place (out of 47), German in eighth (out of 31) and French in 10th (out of 47). The rankings are calculated according to four criteria: Student satisfaction, Research quality, Entry points and Graduate prospects. The Head of the School of Modern languages, Dr Elizabeth Andersen, said “I am delighted that the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment of my colleagues have been recognised in these results. They are a fine acknowledgement of the quality of the School and give us a great start to the new academic year."
