Santander and Newcastle University are pleased to announce that International Exchange Bursaries awards up to a maximum of £1000 are now available to staff and students of Newcastle University to travel to the Iberian and Latin American countries of the Santander Universities network in pursuit of their studies and research projects.

The eligible countries include: Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Students and staff must be based in, or have research or teaching that falls into the remit of: the School of Computing Science, the School of Modern Languages or Newcastle University Business School.

Further Criteria for Applicants Include:

Applicants should be either students or staff in the School of Computing Science, the School of Modern Languages, Newcastle University Business School; or staff teaching on the degree programmes administered by these schools; or PGR students whose research projects fall within the remit of the scheme.

Excludes applications for costs associated with travel and maintenance as part of the Stage 3 year abroad

Applications will be judged on some or all of the following criteria: Quality, originality and feasibility of the research or study proposal; benefits to the community of the study proposal; Initiative shown in the nature of the proposal; academic relevance of the masters or postgraduate project

Deadlines for application: Deadlines for application are 30 November and 30 April of any year within the lifetime of the scheme.

Student applications should be accompanied by a supporting statement from an academic tutor or supervisor which must be signed and dated.
