In a modern world, communication across different cultures and languages is conducted constantly. In response to the high demand for more qualified translators and interpreters to facilitate this cross-cultural and multi-lingual communication, the School of Modern Languages at Newcastle University has developed study programmes at postgraduate level to turn the aspiring language talents into competent translators and interpreters for the exciting professional career. We also have staff and a group of PhD students at the School conducting research work in the field of T&I studies, which is a multi-faceted inter-discipline where different fields interact and spark ideas from each other. Currently we have over eighty MA and PhD students enrolled to study on our T&I programmes.

*We are no longer recruiting for the Japanese T&I programme from 2009.
