    Abstract: This is the principal outcome of a large AHRB project 1999-2002 on film adptations of the Carmen story. The project team co-authored the volume, with the sections on national cinemas being written as follows: Bruce Babington, USA; Phil Powrie, France; Ann Davies and Chris Perriam. Each of the co-authors has also written a chapter on a major star.
