Background

I teach on undergraduate German language modules at all levels and I also teach post-graduates on the MA in Professional Translating and the German Extension Course at Newcastle. In addition to language teaching, my particular interest is nineteenth and twentieth-century German-Jewish literature. I have a PhD in German from Yale University, a Masters degree in International Affairs from Columbia University, and a BA in German and French from Lancaster University. I also do freelance translation work.

Previous Positions

Before teaching at Newcastle, I taught undergraduate German language courses (beginners, intermediate and advanced) as well as some literature seminars at Yale University for six years.
