How to apply

The German Extension Course at SML

How can I apply?

As the number of places on the extension course is limited, we recommend that you make an initial application to us as early as possible, so that we can reserve a provisional place for you while awaiting the outcome of your ITT application.

Once you have a place on a teacher training course, the admissions tutor of the training institution will send us a form to confirm your offer, and to refer you on to the German extension course. S/he will also recommend whether you should start with the ab initio programme or join the main course.  We will contact you once we have received confirmation of your ITT place, and will invite you to attend one of the pre-course Open Days, one of which will be held at the end of March, and the other at the end of April.  This will give you the opportunity to visit Newcastle, meet teaching staff and find out more about the course and facilities available.  Unless you are a total beginner, you will also be asked to take a short assessment test to establish your current level of German.

Who can I contact for further information?

If you have any queries, or to apply for a provisional place on the course, please e-mail German.Extensioncourse@ncl.ac.uk or ring the course secretary Liz O'Sullivan: 0191-2223001
