The German Extension Course at SML

Who can join the course?

The course is specifically for graduates who have only one modern foreign language and who need to develop capability in teaching German (up to key stage 3) in order to take up a place on a course of initial teacher training to teach Modern Foreign Languages at Secondary Level.

Before you can be accepted on to the German Extension Course you need to have obtained an offer of a place on a teacher training course, such as a PGCE, GTP or SCITT programme.  If you have not already applied for a place on a teacher training course, you can find information about how to go about this on the TDA website:  http://www.tda.gov.uk/ or from the Graduate Teacher Training Registry, on their website:  http://www.gttr.ac.uk/

Training providers in the North East region with formal links to the German Extension Course at Newcastle are:  Newcastle University, University of Durham, University of York, University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, University of Cumbria, University of Warwick, University of Hull and Sheffield Hallam University, but we can also accept referrals from any ITT provider in England or Wales.
