The 2017 Institute for Sustainability Annual Conference will bring together researchers from across Newcastle University who are interested in or working on research relevant to the SDGs, along with practitioners in civil society, industry and policy.
Our keynote speaker is Patrick Paul Walsh, Professor of International Development Studies at University College Dublin and Senior Advisor to the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Prof Walsh will share his experience in working on the SDGs, and speak on the emerging patterns and interlinkages where key contributions could be made by academics to the SDGs in the next five years.
- Learn about UN policy and processes, such as the UN High-Level Political Forum, and understand how your research could impact policy for the SDGs.
- Explore our new vision and strategy for Newcastle University on the Sustainable Development Goals and hear about current work on the SDGs.
- Network with researchers and practitioners who will relate their experiences, inspire others and share best practice in working in areas relevant to the SDGs and with the UN.
The conference will take place in Newcastle at the Urban Sciences Building in Science Central, Newcastle University’s flagship building for world class research and demonstration in urban sustainability.
