Intra Mural 11-A-Side Football
The 11-a-side football league is the largest and most popular sport in the Intra Mural sports programme at Newcastle University. With 52 teams competing across 7 divisions, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons are packed with drama and excitement in and around the University’s sporting venues.
Fixtures are played weekly on a combination of grass and artificial pitches and all games are assigned fully qualified referees. The season runs from October to June where teams play each other twice in a league format and battle it out to become league champions, gain promotion or avoid relegation for the forthcoming season. A Cup competition also runs alongside the league campaign where all divisions are entered into an open draw.
At the end of the season the winning teams in each division as well as the cup champions are presented with a crystal trophy and winners medals as well as establishing their place in Intra Mural history.
