Intra Mural Mixed Hockey
The IM Mixed Hockey league runs on a Sunday afternoon from 3m – 7pm at the Stan Calvert Memorial hockey pitch at our Longbenton Sports Ground.
Sixteen teams participate in this social but competitive league which is split into two divisions of eight. Teams play on alternating Sundays throughout the year.
Fixtures are 50 minutes in duration and teams play each other once in a league format. After the league fixtures the top four teams from both divisions qualify for the knock-outs. Fixtures start at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm and teams will play at different times each week.
The ratio of male to female players is 5:5 outfield players throughout the game. The goalkeeper can be of either sex. Each team is also allowed a maximum of 4 players who regularly represent the University in BUCS competitions on the pitch at any one time. Of this maximum of 4 players, no more than 3 may be male.
All matches are assigned qualified umpires from the University hockey club.
At the end of the season the winning team are presented with a crystal trophy and winners medals as well as establishing their place in Intra Mural history.
