Intra Mural Rugby
The Intra Mural rugby programme at Newcastle University is one of the largest of its kind in University Sport. 10 teams compete on Saturday afternoons at various University sporting venues.
The season runs from October to June where teams play each other once in a league format and battle it out to become league champions. A Cup competition also runs alongside the league campaign, as well as an end of season 7’s tournament which gives teams extra opportunities so claim some silverware and an Intra Mural title.
Newcastle University also have a rugby referee’s society, who provides fantastic support to the rugby programme. The society recruits referees at the start of term, organises additional referee’s courses and assigns referees to every Intra Mural fixture.
At the end of the season the league, cup and 7’s champions are presented with a crystal trophy and winners medals as well as establishing their place in Intra Mural history.
Registration for the league commences in May of each year.
