Newcastle University Business Football League

RICS Newcastle University Summer Business Football League is an annual football tournament comprising of local businesses in and around Newcastle City Centre. The league first started in 2002 with 10 businesses competing but now16 teams participate in the league.

All fixtures are played on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings throughout the months of May, July and August at our Longbenton Sports Ground, Coach Lane. Fixtures are played on a combination of grass and artificial pitches. The league is fully affiliated to the NFA and all fixtures are assigned qualified referees.

The league is broken into 2 divisions of 8 teams. Each team play each other once during the league stages. After this the top 4 from each division enter the Championship Knock-Out Competition and the bottom 4 teams from each division enter the Shield Knock-Out Competition.

After the final of the Championship and Shield Knock-Out Competitions there is a presentation evening where a buffet is provided for all the players and the trophies are presented. As well as the winners trophies there are also trophies for top goal scorer and player of the tournament.

9 Active are the current holders of the Championship Trophy whilst British Airways are current Shield Champions.
