Use the rowing machines in the fitness suite to row the distance from The Olympic Stadium to Dorney Lake, Eton

Time/Date: 16th April 2012 - 3rd June 2012

Your challenge is to attempt to row the distance between The Olympic Stadium in London to Dorney Lake, Eton  (where the Olympic Rowing Events will be taking place near Windsor) using the rowing machines on the lower floor in the fitness suite. This is a distance of approximately 55km (55,000m) or 34 miles. You have seven weeks to complete this distance whereas a member of the Boat Club who is training for the Boat Race would complete this distance in two or three days!!

Olympic Rowing Challenge Rules

1.    Distances must be checked /authorised by a member of health & fitness staff
2.    You must inform a member of health & fitness staff prior to making any attempt to the Challenge
3.    The distances can be achieved by working at your own selected level or pace
4.    You may complete as much or as little as you want during your session
5.    Members of the University Boat Club may complete the challenge, but will not be entered into the prize draw.


All individuals who complete the Challenge will be entered into a prize draw for a trip for two to Amsterdam, courtesy of DFDS Seaways, with a number of runners up prizes also on offer.

The Challenge starts on:
Monday 16 April 2012 and ends on Sunday 3rd June 2012

Prize draw will be made on Wednesday 6 June 2012
