International High Performance Fencing Course

The Newcastle University International High Performance Fencing Course is the only one of its kind in the UK. Moving away from the traditional style of courses that are delivered in the UK this course will consist of all 3 weapons, focusing predominantly on technical expertise and mechanical performance.

The course will specialise in specific areas that are fundamental to improving fencing performance:

  • Video Analysis
  • Biomechanics
  • Plyometrics
  • Fight Analysis
  • Technical Equipment
  • S & C /Nutrition/Sports Vision

Fencers on the course will receive a comprehensive workbook to log their performances and recommended improvements. Fencers will also be given a memory stick with the video footage of their actions and annotated notes to allow further progress to be made with their own coach.

All deposits are non-refundable unless the course is cancelled. The Director of Fencing has the right to place individuals in the High Performance Course as applicable to the fencer’s ability/ranking.

If any individual is injured/ill during the course physio/medical advice would be sought about continuing. No refund would be granted under these circumstances.

In order to conduct certain parts of its business, for example communicating with an applicant, the University will need to retain personal data that will be supplied in the application form. The retention of any data will be conducted in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998) and will not normally be retained for more than 2 years.
