NU Olympic Torch Step Challenge

NU Olympic Torch Step Challenge - Terms & conditions

The challenge has been developed to help individuals achieve the government recommendation of 10,000 steps per day.

All teams must have 3 members.

Each team must nominate a Team Captain who will be the main point of contact and will be responsible for:-

  1. Registering the team in the challenge
  2. Collating their team’s daily totals and submitting the weekly totals to the Challenge Co-ordinator, Sarah Todd whether this electronically or manually by 2pm every Friday throughout the challenge.
  3. Be a point of contact for the challenge co-ordinator when needed.

The NU Olympic Torch Step Challenge will run from Friday 18 May 2012 to Thursday 28 June 2012 (six weeks).

All participants are advised to check with their GP before taking part in this challenge if you have not been involved in physical activity recently. If any member of staff is absent on any day throughout the challenge you will be given a default amount of 5,000 steps for that day.

Our university trials with the pedometers have highlighted that participants must ensure that pedometers are placed on the waistband near the hip and away from the stomach area as this can interfere with the step recording.
You should check the enclosed guidelines with the pedometers to ensure you are using it correctly to ensure your results are accurately measured.
