Community Volunteering

Schools
The Volunteer programme works with local schools to assist in the delivery of PE lessons and extracurricular clubs in both primary and secondary schools in the North East.
Working closely with the ‘Newcastle School Games’ volunteers are needed as assistant coaches to work alongside the teachers/coaches. Volunteers, upon gaining the correct qualifications can then work their way up to leading sessions on their own.
To date the following sports have been included in this programme;

  • Netball
  • Football
  • Cheerleading
  • Dance
  • Tennis

Volunteers are also needed to assist in the planning and delivery of school sport events such as the Northumberland Indoor Rowing Finals.

Women Only Exercise Classes
As part of the external engagement programme at the sports centre there are weekly women only sessions for a local group of girls.
The classes are used to instil confidence in the women and reengage these women in sport.
Female Volunteers are needed to assist in the running of these classes.

Officiating
The volunteer programme works with several partners across the North East who often need an extra helping hand at competitions and tournaments.
Qualified volunteers are needed at events such as ‘Back to Netball’ tournaments or local 5-a-side football tournaments to officiate.

Ad Hoc
Through our numerous local partners the volunteer programme receives a large number of requests each year for volunteers to help in local events. As and when these opportunities come in the volunteer programme will advertise accordingly to all volunteers signed up.
