Aimed At: Staff who want to create and edit simple PowerPoint presentations.

Workshop Overview

This workshop is suitable for new users to Microsoft PowerPoint.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Design a Presentation
  • Work with existing presentations
  • Create a new presentation
  • Use a variety of PowerPoint views
  • Use a variety of slide layouts
  • Apply a PowerPoint Theme
  • Print slides
Outline Programme

The workshop programme is as follows:

  • Introduce features of PowerPoint 2010
  • Become familiar with Backstage view
  • Work with existing presentations
  • Run a Slide Show
  • Be familiar with and use principles of presentation design and delivery
  • Work in Normal View
  • Work with slides in Outline View
  • Use Slide Sorter View
  • Introduce the new Reading view
  • Create a simple PowerPoint presentation
  • Add Notes to a slide
  • Add and use sections in a PowerPoint presentation (new to PowerPoint 2010)
  • Apply Design Themes
  • Work with placeholders, lists, text boxes and formatting
  • Add Clipart, Video and Transitions to PowerPoint slides
  • Save a PowerPoint presentation as a video (for distribution to users without PowerPoint)
  • Print from PowerPoint

In addition to our taught provision for PowerPoint we have PowerPoint courses available online through SDU's Learning Resource Centre.
