Access 2010 Module 2 - Query Techniques to Extract, Maintain and Manipulate Data

Aimed At: Staff who have attended Module 1 and are required to create or amend queries to extract data from an Access database.

Workshop Overview

This module uses the database introduced in Module 1. Some of the work covered assumes previous attendance at Module 1.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Create Select type queries
  • Design Parameter queries
  • Create queries to find Unmatched and Duplicate Data
  • Generate Action queries
  • Aware of data maintenance using Action Query techniques
Outline Programme

The workshop programme is as follows:

  • Generate select queries and applying criteria
  • Create calculated fields in queries
  • Produce multi-table queries
  • Create summary (total) queries
  • Build a parameter query
  • Design and creating crosstab queries
  • Create a query to find unmatched data
  • Create a query to find duplicated data
  • Introduce concepts of when and how action queries are used
  • Create action queries: make tables, update, append and delete queries
  • Demonstration of Action Queries for data maintenance
