Aimed At: The surgeries are designed for academics who produce papers, reports or funding applications as part of their work. Individuals can book a one hour surgery and should bring along a document on which they would like feedback. (A sample of their writing will be sent to the facilitator beforehand so that she can spend time familiarising herself with the content and editing a section, maximising the effectiveness of the session itself.)
These one hour writing surgeries provide an opportunity for individual researchers to receive one-to-one feedback on their own writing. The writing is examined in terms of style, organisation, effectiveness, unique subject matter, and support of major findings and conclusions. The emphasis of each surgery is on clear, practical and easily applicable individual advice.

Prior to the workshop you will need to submit two or three pages of a document you have written, to Jane Eggleston (jane.eggleston@ncl.ac.uk) in order for the facilitator to familiarise herself with your subject matter and style.
