External Training Providers

There are many external organisations and companies who can deliver relevant training. Some of this training will be free but other providers may charge. If you have identified an external provider who can meet your training needs, then come and talk to one of the Staff Development Unit team to discuss possible funding options. We may be able to arrange for the facilitator to deliver a workshop here in Newcastle.

Here are some sources of external training:

• Vitae - a national programme of courses and events for postgraduate researchers and research staff.
• The Environment Council - management of stakeholder and public dialogue processes.
• The Missenden Centre - residential seminars on topical issues for small groups of academic and administrative staff.
• The Royal Society - communications and media training
• HEaTED - technician training and development.
• ISRU - training in a range of statistical tools.
• Leadership development for Principal Investigators - online resources for new and aspiring principal investigators.

Other places to look for training are the appropriate professional bodies, research council/funder and learned societies relevant to your research discipline.
