Training
"Its a great way to get involved with the University and to improve and develop important skills." Student Ambassador
Talks
All Student Ambassadors will be offered the opportunity to give talks in schools or colleges. We have produced guidelines giving Practical Tips for Delivering Presentations in Schools and Colleges(doc). The talk given by Student Ambassadors is aimed at Year 12 students and is about Choosing a Course and University(pdf). Full training is given to all Student Ambassadors to show how the talk is delivered and what should be covered in each slide.
We provide Student Ambassadors with either a hire car or taxi to take them to their talks. For those Ambassadors who use hire cars we have Guidelines re: Insurance, Breakdowns and Accidents(doc) as well as a Damage-Check Procedure for Hire Car Use(doc). If you have any queries about whether you have been booked a hire car, or a taxi for your talk please contact Gillian Haxon.
Throughout the year we may offer Ambassadors the opportunity to deliver talks in subjects such as finance, PARTNERS and student life. For these, Ambassadors will have to attend additional training sessions before work is offered.
Tours
We will also offer Student Ambassadors the opportunity to lead Campus or Accommodation Tours over the year. To help you with your Campus Tours, we have a Campus Tour Route(pdf) handout and the Accommodation Tour Handbook(doc) for your information.
Student Ambassador Handbook
The Student Ambassador Handbook(pdf) is a quick guide to all you need to know about being a Student Representative. Please familiarise yourself with this information and if you have any questions please contact Michael Barrass, Louise McCarthy or Iain Harris .
