English Language Classes

Volunteer-led English classes for international students and their families. We cater for students who are just starting to learn English and advanced students who are keen to explore the English language. These classes are free.

Guided Meditation for Relaxation

Time: 1:10 - 1:50 pm
Dates: June 15 (From October 12th the guided meditation will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of the month)

Leazes Terrace Drop In

last Tuesday of every month at 4pm. (walk about popping into all communal areas)

Prayer Breakfast.

Every Tuesday Morning form 8am to 8:45am to pray for the University, the city centre and each other. We also share in breakfast together. Brunswick Methodist Church.

Staff Christian Group

  • Tuesdays during term time, 1pm
  • During the spring term 2012 there will be a gathering for lunch in St Thomas' each week. On 21st February we join with the Christian Union "Events Week" lunchbar event. Then for the three Tuesdays in lent that fall in term-time there are three talks on the same subject from different perspectives: "How does God speak to us?" How Christians from different perspectives look at the Scriptures, the Word of God and how God speaks to us through them. See current events for details.

Wednesday Holy Communion Service

Holy Communion Service at St Thomas' Church (opposite King's Gate). All welcome. It is a welcome oasis of quiet in the middle of the week.

  • Wednesdays at 1:15pm throughout the year

Bede House Catholic Chaplaincy  (term time - check website for changes):

Morning Prayer: Monday to Friday @ 8.15am, followed by breakfast.

Mass: Sunday @ 11.00am and 6.45pm; Monday, Tuesday and Thursday @ 5.15pm; Wednesday @ 12.30pm.

Quaker meetings on campus

Fridays, normally first Friday of the month 12.30 - 2.00pm. Mandela Room, Chaplaincy. First meeting of the year: Friday 7th October.

Meeting followed by lunch. All welcome.

The Holy Biscuit

'The Holy Biscuit is a partnership between The Biscuit Factory Art Gallery and the Methodist Church which aims to develop Community and cultural activities, and to work collaboratively to enhance the Arts in Newcastle.
