Language Resource Centre

The Language Resource Centre is a Newcastle University resource for independent language learning. There are a wide range of English language learning materials that can be used for self-study in the Centre. LRC resources cannot be borrowed and are for use within the Centre only.

Resources include:

  • language learning resources in over 50 languages
  • access to 24 satellite television channels from around the world
  • listen and record facilities for speaking practice
  • PCs with interactive software specifically for language learners
  • an international film collection of over 800 titles in DVD and video format.

There are also comfortable areas to sit for group viewing, reading and quiet study.

The OAC is free for Newcastle University staff and students. Take your smart card to the OAC reception and ask to be registered. Staff on reception may be able to give you a guided tour and help you use the centre effectively.
