Academic and Peer Representation

Representing your fellow students is a major part of student life. Have you advocated on behalf of your peer group in the running of their University and Union?

If you have made a significant contribution by representing your fellow students as a course rep, halls rep, or by assisting with student support and welfare in any way, this is the category for you.

It’s about developing your own skills whilst working on behalf of the wider student community on issues that matter to them.

Caroline Shorthouse and Martina Dietrich (Stage 3 English Literature)

As the Students With Disabilities Officers, Martina and Caroline organised the first Disability Awareness Week at Newcastle University.

This included a 'Not all disabilities are visible' campaign, inspirational speakers such as Paralympian Stephen Miller and the inaugural awareness-raising Wheeliators event.

They constantly sought student feedback through forums, which was utilised to implement relevant and requested change.
