Sustainability Volunteering

Newcastle University Sustainability Team aim to reduce the environmental impact of the University through the management of energy, carbon, waste and water. The team is also involved with the management of biodiversity, procurement and transport.

A small number of volunteer internships are available in the team, providing a valuable opportunity to:

  • gain work experience within the sector;
  • contribute towards achieving the University's sustainability objectives.

The sustainability volunteer role covers all areas of environmental management and includes:

  • helping to develop communication campaigns for staff and students
  • updating and maintaining social media and blog pages
  • assisting with the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) by carrying out environmental audits and developing procedures
  • monitoring and recording energy and waste consumption data
