Dignity and Respect Policy

Purpose

  • The aim of the policy is to promote a working and learning environment in which harassment and bullying are known to be unacceptable and where individuals have the confidence to deal with harassment and bullying without fear of victimisation.

Grounds

  • A complaint can be made where a student believes he/she is subject to:
    • unwanted conduct affecting the dignity of individuals
    • actions or comments that are viewed as demeaning and unacceptable to the recipient
    • this may include: physical, verbal, non verbal conduct or bullying

Process

  • Students should seek to resolve issues informally in the first instance by following the Dignity at Work Policy.
  • If the harassment/bullying continues or is more serious, students should follow the Student Complaint Procedure.
