The Examinations Office, part of the Student and Academic Services, manages the University's examination processes. We compile and publish the examination timetables, train and appoint invigilators, produce undergraduate and taught postgraduate pass lists and student results and are responsible for the administration of examination papers. We also provide support for examination candidates with alternative arrangements and provide guidance to Schools regarding Boards of Examiners and the maintenance of assessment records.
We also act as an examination centre for external organisations or candidates of other universities wishing to arrange to sit examinations in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Background Information
There are three main University examination periods each academic year, Semester One examinations in January, Semester Two examinations in May/June and the Resit examinations in August. The majority of formal examinations are timetabled by the University within these periods. Some Schools however, may hold examinations ‘in house’ at other times of the year. Students should check their Degree Programme Handbook for details.
