The Exams Office, part of the Student and Academic Services, manages the University's exam processes. We compile and publish the exam timetables, train and appoint invigilators, produce undergraduate and taught postgraduate pass lists and student results and are responsible for the administration of exam papers. We also provide support for exam candidates with alternative arrangements and provide guidance to Schools regarding Boards of Examiners and the maintenance of assessment records.
We also act as an exam centre for external organisations or candidates of other universities wishing to arrange to sit exams in Newcastle upon Tyne.
There are three main University exam periods each academic year, Semester One exams in January, Semester Two exams in May/June and the Resit exams in August. The majority of formal exams are timetabled by the University within these periods. Some Schools however, may hold exams ‘in house’ at other times of the year. Students should check their Degree Programme Handbook for details.
