Expectations
In the Student Charter, given to all new students when they register, there are some clearly expressed expectations. These are summarised below.
Students are expected to:
- attend all arranged meetings with their tutor
- make appropriate use of all the support and guidance offered at Newcastle University
- take the initiative in raising problems or difficulties (academic or personal) at the earliest possible opportunity
- report promptly to their school or tutor when they are ill or have other good reason for non attendance or failing to meet deadlines
Tutors are expected to:
- provide confidential advice
- ensure that tutees have access to pastoral and academic support to facilitate their learning
- provide advice about the extenuating circumstances process
- refer students to the student support services as required
