Expectations

In the Student Charter, given to all new students when they register, there are some clearly expressed expectations. These are summarised below.

Students are expected to:

  • attend all arranged meetings with their tutor
  • make appropriate use of all the support and guidance offered at Newcastle University
  • take the initiative in raising problems or difficulties (academic or personal) at the earliest possible opportunity
  • report promptly to their school or tutor when they are ill or have other good reason for non attendance or failing to meet deadlines

Tutors are expected to:

  • provide confidential advice
  • ensure that tutees have access to pastoral and academic support to facilitate their learning
  • provide advice about the extenuating circumstances process
  • refer students to the student support services as required
