Can I bring my dependants to the UK?

Dependants are:

• your husband, wife, civil partner, unmarried partner or same-sex partner, and;
• your children aged under 18 years old.

As a Tier 4 student, you can bring the above family members to the UK as your dependants if you are:

• studying at the university on a postgraduate course (NQF7 or above), or;
• a new government sponsored student following a course of at least 6 months

Further guidance on whether you can bring your family with you to the UK as your dependant, please see the UKCISA website on Tier 4 dependants.

If you do not meet the above criteria, you may invite your family members to the UK for a visit. They should obtain entry clearance as visitors in their home countries. See Inviting your friends and family to the UK for further information.

Students with family members in the UK as dependants

There will be a workshop for PBS Dependants (for students with family members in the UK as dependants who need to renew their visas) on the following dates:

Thursday 13 December 2012 at 9.30am in Etal Room, King's Road Centre

THIS WORKSHOP WILL ONLY COVER PBS DEPENDANTS IN RELATION TO TIER 4 APPLICANTS. UNFORTUNATELY, WE WILL BE UNABLE TO COVER THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ANY OTHER DEPENDANTS UNDER PBS. The Visa Team strongly advise students with dependants to attend the Tier 4 visa workshop before attending the PBS Dependant workshop.

Please download a PBS dependant form and the accompanying guidance and bring them both to the workshop. You do not need to book a place for the Dependants’ workshop.

Please note that the Visa Team do not send Tier 4 with PBS dependant applications through the Student Batch Scheme.
