University policy on the Tier 4 sponsorship of International Students

Most non EEA students who come to the UK for full-time study will require sponsorship under Tier 4 for the duration of their studies.

Tier 4 sponsorship is offered to students when the University issues them with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). A CAS can be offered at the admissions stage or part-way through a programme if a student requires more time in the UK to complete a programme.

Students should be aware that sponsorship under Tier 4 is not automatic. The circumstances of all students requiring a CAS is carefully considered before sponsorship is offered. Current students submitting a CAS request should read the University's policy on the sponsorship of International students for visa purposes first. This is an important document and explains some of the circumstances in which Newcastle University may not be able to assist you with your Tier 4 visa.

April 2013: This policy is being developed to take account of the Tier 4 Doctorate Extension Scheme. This aspect of the policy will be finalised as soon as possible and in the meantime please note that the general principles of the policy apply to all applicants for the Tier 4 Doctorate Extension. The intentions noted on the Tier 4 Doctorate Extension page will also apply.

Students registering at the University with a Tier 4 visa should also be aware of the conditions under which their visas allow them to remain in the UK. A summary of these conditions can be found at http://www.ncl.ac.uk/students/progress/visa/Compliance/index.htm
