Dr Heather Sutherland

Heather joined the Writing Development Centre in July 2015. She worked as an Academic Skills Advisor at Falmouth University, and is CELTA qualified. She spent nearly two years teaching General and Academic English at a university in Guadalajara, Mexico and has also tutored on the INTO: Newcastle University Pre-Sessional English for Academic Purposes course. She holds a PhD in Media History (Westminster), an MA in Communication (Westminster) and a BA (hons) in Education and History (Aberystwyth). and has also been a Visiting Lecturer (University of Westminster), a Post-doctoral Research Fellow (University of Reading). She is on the editorial board of the journal 'Interactions: Studies in Communication and Culture', has presented academic work at conferences in various locations (including Australia, Sweden and Lithuania) and has published articles in peer-review journals such as Critical Studies in Television, Studies in Documentary Film, the Journal of Screenwriting and the Journal of British Cinema and Television.
