Computer Aided Lifestyle Management (CALM)

CALM - Computer Aided Lifestyle Management – is a new online multimedia programme available to all students at Newcastle University. It uses clinically proven self-help tools to identify, motivate and educate you around issues such as anxiety, depression, insomnia and stress. Once you have identified any issues, CALM can help you to deal with your thoughts and feelings associated with them.

How to use CALM
CALM can be accessed at: www.nclstudent.calmyou.com There you will be able to identify your personal profile, set personal targets and track your progress. Only you can get to your information - the programme is confidential.

Step 1 Log on to www.nclstudent.calmyou.com
Step 2 Click on ‘New User’
Step 3 Set up your individual username and password http://www.ncl.ac.uk/students/wellbeing/support/calm-code/

You can access CALM 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from any computer with internet access. As it is an interactive multimedia programme, it is best you use it when you won’t be disturbed, or by using headphones.

Self–help tools
Anxiety relief – assessment tools and multimedia personal programmes can help relieve your anxiety using proven cognitive behavioural therapy techniques.

Depression relief – assessment tools and multimedia personal programmes can help relieve your depression using proven cognitive behavioural therapy techniques.

Stress relief – assessment tools and multimedia personal programmes can help relieve your stress using proven relaxation and visualisation techniques.

Insomnia relief – assessment tools and multimedia personal programmes can help relieve your insomnia using proven sleep hygiene and stimulus control techniques.
