Hello, My name is Anthony Smare and I am looking for deaf people who are interested in playing
football, whether they are hard of hearing, hearing impairment or profoundly deaf, and they can be oral users or signers users.
Deaf football is now starting to get bigger and it is getting recognised by the FA. There is Great Britain Deaf Football team now and England are setting up a England Deaf FC. Ireland/Scotland/Wales are fol-lowing suit.
Clubs that have set their own deaf football teams are, Manchester United FC, Everton FC, Arsenal FC, Derby County FC, Fulham FC and many more clubs are setting up at the moment. Most professional clubs offer top coaching, training at their academy pitches and get tracksuit etc, provided. Use of their 1st team coaches to travel away games to compete against other deaf football clubs in the British Deaf Cups, English Deaf Football League and Cups. There is even a Champion League involved.
We, of the North East area, lack players and we know by our study that there are a lot of deaf people out there. We want to out reach and raise the profile to get more players. Once we find the players we can contact professional clubs to discuss what can be done etc. Imagine playing for a professional club for the deaf team and representing them and have a good chance of getting into England Deaf ?
We at the moment play for Rutherford FC at Gateshead, training once a week and matches at various dates but we need more players to set more teams up. We aim to set up a team over 16 years old and compete in those leagues. We would like to set up a 7—16 years old deaf team as well. The more the merrier. If you want to play but think not good enough, please don't feel like that, we can coach you to improve your football and be part of the teams.
No communication barrier at all as we have a mix policy, oral users and sign language users to
encourage social friendship and team.
If you are interested: Text 07722001012 Anthony Smare or email us nedeaffootball@live.com
Any questions you want to ask please feel welcome to email or text me. If you want to join us on add North East Deaf Footballers.
Please, if you know anyone or anybody who may have deaf friends, someone who you might know who are deaf, or families who have deaf children, pass the word around. We need loads of players!!
