Background

Before taking up my role as a Disability Adviser in 2006 I was manager of the Learning Difficulty and Disability Team at Connexions Northumberland. I am a qualified Careers Adviser and have worked in this capacity for Connexions and at Sunderland University.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Disability Adviser I liaise with students and staff regarding student support requirements. My role involves working with both prospective and current disabled students. I also advise academic staff on accessible course delivery and liaise with the examinations office regarding appropriate arrangements for disabled students. I sit on a number of working groups across the University where issues relating to disabled students are considered.
