I joined the Student Wellbeing service in October 2010. As a Student Wellbeing Adviser, I support students who are struggling in a variety of different ways linked to their mental health and general wellbeing. If students access the wellbeing service, I support them by using counselling and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) approaches. In addition to meeting with students for this kind of support, I also help students who choose to disclose their mental health as a disability by putting more long term support in place for them and by helping them to apply for Disabled Student Allowance if that is appropriate. My colleagues and myself also provide training and consultancy support for staff at the University.
