Roles and Responsibilities

I have been a Therapist with the Student Wellbeing Service at Newcastle University since July 2015. I work individually and with groups using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). My therapeutic aim is to support students in understanding their difficulties and finding ways of breaking out of the unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior that can maintain their distress. I also contribute to the team’s provision of group sessions for students in their academic departments on subjects such as coping with stress and the uses of assertiveness. Working with groups is a particular area of interest for me.

I have a personal interest in improving understanding of how CBT can best be adapted for working with students on the autistic spectrum.
