If you are a UK undergraduate student and you have not yet applied for your 2012/13 student finance you should do it now!
Plan your finances for the first term so you don't run out of money. Remember any money you have will have to last you 15 weeks (including the Christmas vacation). Want some help with budgeting and managing your money? Contact the Student Finance Adviser or use our budgeting tools.
Try and prioritise your spending - make two lists 'have to buy' and 'choose to buy' to help with this.
Pay your rent as a priority so you can see how much money you have left to pay for everything else.
Make sure you have signed and returned your declaration form. You will not receive your first instalment of student loan/grant if this has not been returned to your assessment authority
If you expect to have health costs throughout the year complete an HC1 form to see if you can get help with your health costs.
Make sure you have completed your council tax exemption form
Check your course reading lists and decide which books are core texts and which are recommended. Try and use the library or purchase text books secondhand to save yourself some money.
