All applications to the Financial Assistance Fund (FAF) will be dealt with according to the Student Wellbeing confidentiality policy. The data requested in the application form is covered by the Data Protection Act and all personal data will be used solely for statistical purposes. The data will not be passed to any third party without your consent, except when the University is required to do so by law.
Your application will be assessed by members of the Student Financial Support Team to ensure all students are treated fairly and consistently.
The number of weeks used for making a standard FAF assessment varies according to different cohorts.
To ensure all students are treated fairly and consistently we will use a “notional income” figure rather than actual income as international and non-UK EU students should have made adequate provision for their support. FAF is intended as a safety net if students experience unexpected circumstances rather than a major funding source for students.
The University's Student Discretionary Awards Forum Working Group meets on annual basis to set ceilings for each item of expenditure based on what it considers to be reasonable amounts taking into account local conditions. Expenditure which exceeds these ceilings will be capped.
