Exhibition Prizes

Background

Exhibitions are predominantly stage 1 undergraduate prizes, with the exception of the Eustace Percy prizes which are awarded to stage 2 students.

Most exhibitions, under the terms of their original creation, apply to particular departments or faculties. There are, however, two exhibitions (Thomas Penman and Francis Priestman) which are competitive across the whole University (excluding Clinical Medical Sciences).

Eligibility

  • Thomas Penman: stage 1 students from any school/ faculty excluding Clinical Medical Sciences
  • Frances Priestman: stage 1 students from any school/ faculty excluding Clinical Medical Sciences. Preference given to sons or daughters of the clergy of the Church of England
  • J E S Boden Memorial: stage 1 students from the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering, School of Biomedical Sciences and School of Pyschology
  • Thomas Young Hall: stage 1 students from the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering, School of Biomedical Sciences and School of Pyschology
  • J R Sisling Memorial: stage 1 students studying Architecture Planning and Landscape, Geography, Politics or Sociology, Law or Business
  • Stanley Dennison: stage 1 students studying Arts & Cultures, Economics (including Joint Honours), English Literature, Language or Linguistics, Geography, Politics or Sociology, History, Classics or Archeology and Modern Languages
  • Sir Daniel Jack: stage 1 students studying Accounting or Finance
  • Katherine Lloyd: stage 1 students studying Social Sciences
  • Trevelyan: stage 1 Politics (including Joint Honours)
  • Douglas A Gilchrist : stage 1 students studying Agriculture
  • Alan Gilchrist: stage 1 students studying Agriculture
  • Thomas Hacking: stage 1 students studying Agriculture
  • Eustace Percy: stage 2 Engineering students

Selection

Exhibitions are awarded on the basis of end of stage examination results, reflecting the student’s performance throughout the academic year.

Nominations are put forward by the Schools: the Exhibitions are then awarded by the University Exhibitions Committee.
