Medical students who wish to apply for additional funding may find the list of charities and trusts below a useful starting point.

British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy: postgraduate and undergraduate students involved in research and training in antimicrobial chemotherapy.

British Medical Association Charities - offers help in times of financial need to doctors and their dependents and to medical students.

The Cross Trust - can assist students to participate in Elective studies abroad. Applicants must be of Scottish birth or parentage.

Sir John Sumner’s Trust: helps people studying nursing or medicine, including veterinary studies, who are in need and living in the UK, although there is a strong preference for the Midlands.

The Dr Robert Malcolm Trust: for students studying for a medicine degree. Grants are only given for first degrees

Medical Women's Federation - oversee a variety of grants and prizes throughout the year to assist qualified Doctors or women studying towards a medical degree leading to GMC registration as a doctor.

Royal Medical Benevolent Fund - can provide assistance to medical students facing unexpected and exceptional financial hardship
