Eligibility
The Access to Learning Fund (ALF) is available to assist registered UK students only. International and non-UK EU students who are experiencing financial difficulties should check to see if they are eligible to apply for help from the discretionary Financial Assistance Fund.
Only registered students of the University can apply to ALF. Applications cannot be made before you start your studies.
Undergraduate and PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) students
You must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- be a UK student, as defined by your assessment authority for fee assistance purposes
- have registered to study a full-time course, a part time course that equates to 60 credits or more, or at least 50% of a full time course
- have applied for the maximum Student Loan to which you are entitled from the Student Loans Company
- be able to show that you need financial assistance and that you have both applied for all relevant sources of funding and attempted to find other means of supporting yourself
Postgraduate students
You must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- be a UK student
- have registered to study a full-time course, a part time course that equates to 90 credits or more, or at least 50% of a full time course
- be able to show that you need financial assistance and that you have both applied for all relevant sources of funding and attempted to find other means of supporting yourself.
