Santander Formula Scholarships

Through its Santander Universities Global Division, Banco Santander supports the higher education sector in four continents in areas including teaching and research, international co-operation, knowledge and technology transfer, entrepreneurial initiatives, student mobility and innovation. Newcastle University is part of the Santander Universities network of more than 700 HE institutions worldwide.

Two Santander Formula scholarships are open to UK/EU students applying for any postgraduate taught degree programme commencing in September 2013. The Santander Formula Scholarship is offered to 2 students on any of the postgraduate taught programmes at Newcastle University.

Award amounts

The Santander Formula scholarship is valued at €5,000 and is tenable for one year.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must become registered students at Newcastle University at the beginning of the 2013/14 academic year.
  • The scholarship is only available to students resident in the UK or EU and who are classed as Home/EU for fees purposes.
  • Students who are fully funded from another source are not eligible to apply for these scholarships.
  • The applicants chosen to receive the awards will be assessed according to evidence of academic ability (e.g. course results), evidence of commitment to studies and quality of application.
  • Scholarship winners will be invited to attend the University’s Annual Donor Scholarship Event in May 2014.
  • The Scholarship award will not be confirmed unless applicants satisfy all conditions related to the scholarship offer.
  • Applicants must have achieved a first class degree, or equivalent, in order to be considered for the awards.
  • The University reserves the right to vary all or any scholarship awards at its sole discretion.

How to apply

The award will be made through consideration of competitive applications. Applications must be submitted using the application form.  Other applications will not be accepted.

The deadline for applications for the 2013/14 academic year was the 30th April 2013.

Payment of the Scholarship

The scholarships are payable in equal amounts in October and March of the academic year and is paid directly to the holder as a contribution towards living costs. Payments will be made in Pound Sterling.
