Alderman Frederick Smith Bequests/Holt Education Trusts
Background
These awards are made available by Liverpool Student Support to undergraduate students whose normal home residence is in Liverpool. These Trusts are made available for students to apply to once a year. The Trusts are administered on behalf of an outside agency and any decisions about assistance are decided by the Trustees.
The Alderman Frederick Smith Bequest
For male undergraduates at any college or university in Great Britain, receiving student support via the Student Loans Company and whose normal residence is in the City of Liverpool.
The Holt Education Trust
For female undergraduates at any college or university in Great Britain, receiving student support via the Student Loans Company and whose normal residence is in the City of Liverpool.
Travelling Scholarships
The Alderman Frederick Smith Bequest also provide travelling scholarships - awarded to male and female undergraduates at any college or university in Great Britain, receiving student support via the Student Loans Company and whose normal residence is in the City of Liverpool.
A scholarship will be granted towards the cost of travel abroad during vacations with a view to extending knowledge of the cultural, industrial and commercial life of the country visited, to complement formal studies. Applicants will be required to live abroad for more than four weeks and to state in their application the details of the proposed travel.
These scholarships are granted only once, and will not affect the student's normal grant. The scholarships are to assist in exceptional circumstances, which are not adequately covered by the present award regulations.
Applicants will be required to state the specific circumstances that they wish the Trustees to consider and to included any extra expenditure in connection to their particular course of study e.g. equipment , books or other items which the applicant would find of significant benefit to their studies.
