Benevolent Fund for Civil Engineers

The fund helps disabled or disadvantaged students who are studying on an ICE accredited course for a degree in civil engineering whose circumstances have changed since starting their course. Grants from the Fund may be used for living costs, travel, accommodation, equipment costs and course materials. Any grant awarded cannot usually be used to pay for course fees or to clear old debts.

Eligibility

To be eligible for help through the Fund applicants must:

  • be members of ICE
  • be studying an accredited course at a UK university
  • be in receipt of all other available financial assistance

How to apply

Initial grants will be made for one year but applicants can reapply for help in following years.

All applicants need to get a form signed by their course tutor to indicate that they are still attending the course and all applications must be accompanied by a reference or letter of support from the head of school or their nominee.

Applicants will also be visited by a Fund Visitor. Applications can be made throughout the year.
