Cost of University

In addition to the money required to pay for tuition fees you will also need to budget for your day-to-day living. The amount you will spend on this will vary depending upon your circumstances and personal tastes.

Some factors which can affect the amount you will spend on living costs are:

  • the type of student you are eg full-time or part-time
  • the length of your academic year
  • the type of accommodation you choose to live in
  • if you live with your family
  • your course of study

Though the cost of living in Newcastle is relatively inexpensive compared with other parts of the UK costs can soon add up. We have prepared an information leaflet which provides reasonable estimates of the level of income you should have in place to cover your living costs as well as outlining the main categories of expenditure that students are likely to incur:

Please note the figures outlined are only approximate and should only be used as a guide.

Students who are coming to Newcastle from countries outside of the UK are advised to check how the cost of living compares to that of their home country using a currency converter. All students may also find it useful to use the following funding calculators to see how your estimated income and expenditure compares.
