The University provides travel insurance free of charge to postgraduate students travelling overseas on official University business.
You must:
Cover applies 24 hours a day from departure to return on all journeys outside England, Scotland and Wales. It is anticipated that the University will be the sole provider of Business Travel Insurance.
Information as to the suitability of a proposed journey can be obtained on the Foreign and Commonwealth website which should be checked regularly to see if there is any change to the advice given by the Foreign Office.

Cover is subject to a reasonable precautions condition which requires all care and attention to be taken to safeguard property from loss or damage. Failure to comply would entitle insurers to refuse payment for the loss or damage.

Should there be any intention of hiring a vehicle abroad it is necessary to bear in mind that the extent of cover provided is usually limited. It is necessary to check that the limit of liability, deductibles applying are in accordance with UK standards if possible.
As soon as possible after you are aware that an event has happened which may give rise to a claim, you must notify the University Insurance Office : insurance@ncl.ac.uk
You must take all reasonable steps to avoid or minimise any loss or damage and must also make every effort to recover any property which has been lost.
Failure to comply with the claims procedures noted will result in delayed claims settlements and could ultimately invalidate a claim.
